In the meantime...

Hey, I'm back!

The Ubisoft contract isin't quite finished yet due to gamedesign modifications, should work again with them soon...

In the meantime, I've got a lot of stuff coming up. The Grimwar video is coming along great, I think it will be worth the wait... I'm working with Jon Veltman on this one, He's a real nice guy, and very proffessional! (I mean that in a good way, not in a cold and boring way...)

Also, more good news... I will be published monthly in the magazine "Les DÉBROUILLARDS".
I will do 4 pages a month for a period of 12 months...after that the whole thing gets collected in one trade paperback... I cant' wait.

The story is written by the great BRYAN PERRO, fine dude, really creative and funny.
I think his story is brilliant! here's a first look at the main characters:

I'm a guy from the 6th

It was my birthday last thursday.
And I got a really big and weird present.
I got hired as a concept artist by UBISOFT!
That's right, I signed my contract on the 6th of september.
So far It's really awesome, I can't talk about what project I am on, but I will just say that it fits my style perfectly. I feel honored to be part of the team and can't wait to play the game already!

It feels weird to go to the office every morning. I'm used to work during the night because it's always quiet and no one bothers me.
Now, it's the opposite, not that people bother me or anything but this is not a solo job. I need to talk to members of my team many times a day. And waking up a 7am for me, is surreal!
last night I fell asleep in front of my computer at home, and it wasn't even 1 AM!

well, my contract will last 2 months so the blog will probably chill for that period.

So here's what the animation will look like in the end.I think It's much better than the previous 3d wannabe visuals that I had a couple weeks ago.
The whole Idea of this new look is to fake perspective with the camera, but what you are seeing is only 2d planes in a 3d space...
I'll post the animation here soon!

The things you learn in life...

Here's what I'm working on theses days, It's a little animation sequence for the short movie called "Une de perdue".
A couple of weeks ago I tried to construct a whole city in 3d using after effects.
Bad Idea.
1rst of all, AE isn't a 3d program, It does have 3d utilities, but you can't really model stuff.
So don't try this at home kids!
I'll post the final scene soon, and explain a bit how I solved my problem.
In the meantime, I started a new sketchbook, did a little painting in it just for fun!

A month already?

Hey! Man, it's been a month already since I updated this little pink blog!
A lot has been happening, great news coming up...nothing I can say OR show for the moment, but be patient...everything will fall into place soone enough.
Here's a study for a painting I will do in the next couple of days...I've always been painting on really small canvas, mainly in my sketchbook. Its gonna be interesting to work on a big canvas for once!
I also want to thank everybody that looked up my blog in the last months, I've been getting some very nice e-mails, It's a huge compliment, thanks!

Vitesse Lumiere!

Hey!
I havent updated this in a while.
Lot's of great news coming our way!
A couple months ago I had the honnor to be the art director of a Short horror film called
RETROUVAILLES It was great experience and made me want to be in the industry a bit more.
Well the great news is It got selected in one of my favorite film festival of quebec, an event called VITESSE LUMIERE it is awesome. I cant wait.
It's gonna be presented next month.

I'm also working on 2 different projects.
The first one is an animated sequence in an other short film called "Une de perdue"
. I'll get back to you when I can show more stuff
The second big thing for me is I'm directing another animated video for the Great band: GRIMSKUNK.
I can't show anything for the moment But I'll probably post it on youtube when it's finished.

After the festival

Hey there,
Last weekend was the "festival de BD du quebec"
Even If I wasn't really at the fest, I did a little live painting (kinda like the one below) while Erreur de type 27 was playing Contemporary music.
Very Interesting evening, met lot's of cool people.
Here's the final piece I did in less than 16 mins.

Last year's Video

Hey I was looking at youtube the otherday (duh) and found my 2 animated videos!
so here was the first One I did.
The song is called FROIDE and was done by a band named Kodiak.
The band members are all very nice people and I wish them the best!
oh and this Vid won the "BUZZCLIP" mention. Each week they pic a video for best technical
visuals or whatever, anyway Its kinda old and there are a lots of errors,but overall I'm proud of it.


the next one is for a band called Nodaska.
They wanted a video that moved very quickly.
unfortunately for me, this one never got aired.

Flesh and blood

HEy all!
working on lot'S of cool stuff, even if I didn't get much made last weekend.

It was my cousin's birthday (JE TAAAAIIIIME JC!!!!)
also saw some interesting movies, such as : Taxidermia very interesting and disturbing!

and the other one was Guinea pig: Flowers of Flesh and blood.
This one isn't for everyone.
It is without a doubt the most GORE movie I have ever seen.
Storywise its not great but the physical effects blew me away.
It is a must see for everyone who wants to work in the special fx industy.
I guess seeing Grindhouse trailers made me want to watch it, but I dont regret it!
